Started making the exhaust from the headers today. Im going to tie it into the muffler and x pipe i posted way back.

I had to do extensive modifications to the transmission cross member because im running a huge 1410 u joint with a flange yoke. But i did that today as well.

My father pissed me off today and i used it as motivation to get more work done. Sometimes he can be a prick :) but he lets me make a mess in his garage so i guess ill let it slip.

Next week im going to try to get the exhaust completely dialed in and hook up all the brakes.

Im tired, trying to get more done. I think i have an issue with a pinched nerve in my back, not sure. Sometimes my legs go numb when i stand up after ive been in weird positions for awhile. Its never happened before. Maybe at 27 im starting to show signs of aging.

Talk to you all later

Drive shafts... exhaust... it's almost time to drive it.
Almost, I may have to change out the oil pan as the driveshaft may hit it unfortunately. I cant wait to finish the exhaust system. It's a lot of fun running the pipes.

Also. I just learned im getting deployed for 2 years shortly after this year is over. So unless i get this done before then its going to sit. Im feeling motivated. So i drove an hour and a half to work 3 hours and then drive back tonight. I need to get this done. No more excuses

I may have a new join date but i've been lurking on this forum for years. This build and Tweak's build are easily my favorites.

Awesome Jeep and much respect for the skills involved!

Thanks man I appreciate it. Its been a long time with this thing. Hopefully I can finish this exhaust this week. This is my first "full" exhaust i've ever built all the way back. Ive done smaller jobs but 2.5" tubing is definitely large and trying to keep it all tucked up so it doesn't get ripped off in the rocks if tough but I love the challenge of it. I am going to have to heat shield the bottom of the tub and wrap the exhaust though. Because it is going to be close to the floor.

I also want to put down some sound dampening mat in the Jeep and put down a shag carpet. I think it will be nice in the winter time to have some carpet on the floor to help keep the cold out. And I personally love to run my toes through shag carpet.

I'm just going to take the carpet in my living room and hack it all up so it fits.

Hopefully not to somewhere too bad. I have probably said it before, but this seems like a good place to thank you for your service.

Um.... I hope you are not serious. :puke:

The exhaust is looking good. I have been considering doing mine again. I think 3" after my Y pipe would be a good idea.

It's my pleasure, they pay my bills and healthcare.

Wait what is wrong with a gray shag carpet? It is so beachy. Classy and Stylish :tomatoes:

I may be able to go 3" after the "x" pipe but I don't think I would want to. My engine isn't pushing over 500hp and I'm not racing. I don't think the minimal HP gains would be worth the headache of trying to snake two 3" pipe through my suspension.

Agreed... I am only single exit. That is why I should step up to 3". You will be good with duals.

Alright time to bring this thing back from the dead. I've been flying around on radio silent for awhile but life gets in the way sometimes. I've been running around like a chicken with its head cut off for the past two months looking at houses to buy before i go overseas blah blah blah. Its been terrible. I hate house hunting.

I started a rebuild on a extra 440ci big block mopar for my daily driver to drop in one of these weekends because mine is getting a little tired.

And I had to take some time off from everything because working at the shop, working on my Jeep, driving all over creation was just pissing me off. So I sat in my apartment for two weeks and played video games and drank some beer. It was great.

But back to my Jeep. Pull the tub off the frame and started to paint the inside of it. Then I pulled all the rhino lining off the bottom of the jeep and found a decent amount of rust/rot. So i made the decision to sent the tub out to the sandblaster to remove all the corrosion.

I am still waiting to get the tub back from the blasters, its been a week or so now. Its getting glass beaded not sandblasted. Then I will corroseal the bottom, sand the corroseal with 320, and then POR15 the entire bottom of the Jeep and finish painting the inside of the Jeep. After that its on to painting the outside.

I am also fixing the rear suspension. I gusseted the entire suspension. Also the pinion angle was just all wrong. So I remade the rear links. I also cut out part of the transmission tunnel and started to remake it to accommodate the twinsticks.

T minus 4 months till i go overseas.

Ow my back! Here is the Jeep as it is sitting now.

I cut up 60 ft of 1.75" .120 today for the roll cage and notched it. I still need another 60ft to finish the cage

I cut a hole in the rear bumper and welded on a tow hitch.

I also gusseted the rear suspension.

It will be another week before my tub is back from the blasters. Total time will be 3 weeks now. :pullinghair:

I want my Jeep back because I just purchased another 40' of 1.75" .120 DOM for the cage and I can't start bending tubing till I get my Jeep back.

The Internet has no exact measurements from the floor of a CJ to the hard top and I don't really trust anyone else's measurements so I'm going to wait.

I have my cousin machining some bungs for be to weld into the frame so I can attach my front bumper and skid plate when the time comes.

Other than that i'm not touching this thing. I have a 4 day weekend this week and I'm already at my parents house with nothing to do. The steel arrives tomorrow and I can't bend it yet. This blows. im so sick of getting nothing done on "Rudy"

Just over 4 1/2 months till I leave. I'm going to sit in the garage all night and practice my TIG welding on some scrap steel.

If my tub isn't done at the blasters by the end of next week im going to have to knock some heads. I'm officially running out of time, money and patience on this build.

I need to start playing with my TIG. I wonder how welding upside down goes with the TIG? I know it can be a challenge with MIG. Probably a set up you should practice.

Getting my body back from the blasters today after 4 weeks... Took them long enough but i'm happy I did it. I will post pictures of it once i see it. Cost me $500 and i think it was well worth it.
