Anybody running a CAI?
Here is a review I did on the Rugged Ridge CAI I installed on my 2.5l 93 YJ.
Tried putting the intake on, wont fit. I guess the 1in brown dog mounts dont help.
make it fit at the auto parts they misc. intake parts adapters and such
this was an old thread but any reading the kit I got was packaged better and the tubing isn't quite as long has less fittings so is easier to figure out to how to put together. the zip ties they send are still to small and the instructions still stink but like I said it is a lot easier to figure out when putting it together. all in all I really like it but I also put in a throttle body spacer at the same time. it did make a noticeable difference imo.
I was thinking about putting a 1-2in spacer under the heat shield mount. Hoping it would bring it back up or weld a extension piece on the tube.

On mine the black shield went underneath the intake, to protect against splashing...I thought...

Now I am questioning my install. But I am certain the pictures in the guide had it that way. I don't think it would have fit over the top.
mine has a base underneath it to that bolts to the original mounting holes on it. they send some huge washers to cover the holes cause the are very large. its kinda hard to tell but is actually boxed in.
Have you guys noticed any difference? Powerwise?

Right, the base for the original air cleaner box. I bolted mine to that. Okay, this is really going to bug me. I need to know which is the correct installation. Unfortunately, I am still in Afghanistan so I can't look at mine directly.

I remember noticing a slight difference, and definitely more engine noise. I don't have any concrete evidence of an improvement in performance. It could just be a placebo affect.
Okay, I see what is confusing me. You have the 4.0l and the shield design is different for that size of engine.

Your instructions.

now I've added a couple other things at the same time as the cai but yes there is a very noticeable difference with what I have done all together.

got these off ebay almost altogether

borla muffler $75
4 hole injectors $65 for all six the injectors are great but took a month to come in from the guy I got them from.
cai $175 with shipping included
throttle body spacer $35

so for $350 I have for the most part no problem maintaining my speed with 33-14.5-15 tsl's down the road with 3.07 gearing and my mileage has gone up a total of 3mpg. it will pay for itself fairly quickly..
4 hole injectors? from who and more info please.
So I just made it work with the stock intake tube comming off the throttle body into the rugged ridge polished intake. Will post pics soon
I found mine on ebay. I just searched jeep 4.0 4 hole injectors and found the best price at the time.. like I said I didn't check his rating as good as I should but he got them to me and they work great. they are 19lb injectors. our factory injectors have a single hole tip. the 4 hole makes a better mist in the cylinder than the single hole which makes a better compression and explosion so it burns the fuel more efficiently uping your power a little and hence better mileage.

What throttle body spacer you use?
91-06 Jeep Wrangler Throttle Body Spacer 4.0 2.5 (290774555015)

its from mccosky performance in Washington. very happy with this guy, cheapest one out there and looks and performs just like the higher dollar name brands.
