Would this be an issue that concerns anyone too much?

Spent a lot of time yesterday under my 2012 JK Rubicon (wiring rear auxiliary lights) and noticed that my stock (3 + year old) rear shocks have a lot of the red paint peeled off and the exposed metal rusted/corroded with some blistering under some of the remaining paint. (pictured shock is worse than other rear shock)

All works well, no drive issues but rather not have a failure when a distance from help/home.

Not really concerned about the cosmetics and probably a bit late to try to preventive measures (but may spray with WD-40 before the next Kansas winter). I would replace if thought to be an immediate concern.

Jeep is stock as far as engine/suspension/body is concerned (now has extra lights).

Thanks,

Robert

The shocks on my '13 look the same. It's all cosmetic and won't jeopardize function. I've hit them with a rattle can, but it's futile against the winter salt.
