Boy the rust / oxidiation on the bolts around the bumper and the under carriage on jeep tj '06 is really .....well crappy...

Previous vehical was a Suzuki and it had no where near the rust on it at 8 mons. as this tj has. Man the bolts must be raw steel or tin foil to have that much rust. The heads are corroded and caked in a film of it. Disappointing to say the least.
Does DC find the cheapest vendor for bolts and hire them?:)

Oh well, just got out the oil and brush and started recoating the area so as to stave off the inevitable.:D

If you move out of the SALT belt you wouldn't have as much of a problem. I have an 03 with NO rust.

Gotta agree with the salt. My 99 has no rust anywhere on it. Undercarrige bolts are like new, other than rock rash.

Thats what I've been doing. As many car washes as possible to keep the rust at bay. Not gonna change the outcome but may help postpone it for a while. Also strted coating all the hardware with 10w-30 and other hard to reach spots with wd-40. That will have to do.

It melts the snow. Few hours right after it snows the roads are dry and there is less/if any chance of ice... Most city + government officials don't give a crap about the environment and especially about the plants. (^lack of a better word) Thats the reason we are still using gasoline.. it's what's best for money...

They salt the hell out of the streets. They come up on the lawn and tear it up and that salt kills more grass. Oh well as steward of a Lawn Care Outfit its ok by lil ol me.

Do you have any before and after pictures of your TJ? There isn't much on my Jeep that doesn't have rust. Salty air will do that.
sorry i have not many pics from my old TJ. but thre was rust everywhere. the axles, theTC plate, the wohle underbody was brown from the rust.

a friend (he has an automotive paint shop) made that for me before i sold my old TJ.
he sprayed all rusty parts with that stuff and after a night he washed it away with some water. after that there was no rust anymore.
the he put on some underbody wax against some rust n the future.

when i bought my new TJ i put 6 bottles of underbody all over the underbody. that was some flexible stuff with many plastic inside. my friend (with the paint shop) aid it´s the best you cando against rust and that most of the people with very old and expensive cars use that stuff.
i hope my new TJ is now protected against rust...

MouthfulOfGrass i forgot another thing.. the sooner your car rusts and seizes upb the sooner you will need to buy another one...and that's the plan

I'm now looking places to buy that rust remover stuff. Nicolas-Eric where did you get yours from? I looked in their products section but didn't see price or anything of that sort.

When I was a boy my grandfather would coat all the hardware and under metal with old motor oil that he kept in a foldgers coffee can...It worked. So I've been doing the same for a few 24's and seems to keep the stuff a bit better than without.
