So I was backing the jeep into the garage, got too close to the edge of the door opening, and scraped the fender pretty good:doh:.
Not too worried about the scrapes/scratches (even though this is a Sahara) but it appears I got it good enough to break the 2 fasteners on the backside bottom of the fender well.

Am hoping I can just replace the fasteners and move on but if I have to take it to the dealer, I will.

The first two pics are of the lower fastener (inside and out) and the other is the next highest.

EDIT: I just started looking around myself and I think I may be SOL. It looks like the fender broke where the clip attaches (pic 2).

Those are arrowhead fasteners. The Mopar part number is 68039280AA and cost $5. Or $1.50 each from Quadratec. Or a pack of 25 for $12.40 here: Jeep Fender Flare & Rocker Moulding Clip 68039280-AA

Thanks, sport. I saw those. Is what made me think I was SOL. The upper one looks like a clip swap out would fix it. The lower one looks like the clip is fine and the attach point on the fender broke.

The clips usually pull out of the fender with the flare or break off with the remains left in the fender. Are the mounting holes on the back of the flare for the clips ok?

That looks like the problem on the lower attach point. The mounting hole for the clip is broken. I suppose I could try to jury-rig something.

Replacing the clip on the upper one looks like it would fix that one.

OK. So I am going to replace three clips on the fender. Any idea how I would go about that? Do I need to take the fender well cover piece off? If so, how do I do that? I just cannot see how to get access where I need.

My understanding you need to remove the inner plastic fender liner/splashshield. Handful of plastic push pins and cut off a few plastic rivets. Then remove a few bolts and completely pull flare off fender. Some of the arrowheads may break. Install arrowheads into flare and then push flare back onto fender.

I've got you beat....I never did anything to mine, they just started popping out themselves. I took it to the dealer, and they told me it would not be covered by either new vehicle warranty (3/36) or my "lifetime" warranty. I balked at that, told them to examine the fender and flare, and if they could determine that it was my damage, I would agree. They found nothing, so they covered it.

Point of interest here...Jeep mechanic took about 1 1/2 hours to complete the job.

Thanks for the links! I just scraped one off on a log out wheeling... sort of a 'break away design' in a way, kind of nice if it's easy enough to put back. time will tell. IN a way better than the dented steel fenders my old CJ7 lived with.

As for the front air dam that is also "break away" in design as soon as you put the jeep in reverse in a mud hole... I'm thinking that one will just be put to the curb for Monday's garbage pick up.
