This may have been discussed before but I could not find a post with what I am looking for.

I took my TJ out today on a rough gravel road, nothing too crazy, just enough to rattle the windows and make my seat belt lock and have to stop and unbuckle and retract the belt all the way and rebuckle. Nothing to back but just enough to be annoying.

Anyone have any tips to prevent this without changing out the belt itself, or do I just need to deal with it?

I have considered going with a different seat belt but am hesitant because this is my daily driver.

Thanks

Ive seen this posted before and IIRC you can shoot a little lube like WD-40 or a silicone in there may help

Thats kind of how they are supposed to work. There is a little plumb bob weight inside that engages the locking pawl. If you jiggle it around enough, it will lock the reel. Same as when it locks on a hill and you cant lean forward.

Pull it out and open it up and see for yourself if its clean or gunked up
