Yup, as the title says. You are about to see the carnage of my JKU vs a Semi tractor trailer from Tuesday night. This happened on my way home from work on I-40 in Albuquerque. Semi driver was sleeping, and decided to plow into me, which in turn caused me to take out 3 other vehicles while we were driving about 5 mph. Truck driver was doing about 45mph and didn't stop until after he made impact with my Jeeps ass. I walked away (actually transported by ambulance) with minor injuries. Jeeps are tough with the right equipment. Enjoy.

BEFORE:

AFTERMATH:

As you can see from the pics, the Hanson Offroad bumpers took the hit, and saved my ass! The car in front of me was opened up like an aluminum can from my front bumper which only received some scratches. The rear bumper/tire carrier and spare tire, hi-lift jack absorbed most of the impact from the big rig. The force was great enough to shear off my driver and rear passenger seat brackets that hold the seats to the floor. This in turn caused my to hit the top of my head on the roof panel which I am thankful was covered with acoutic padding. The impact also broke the driveshafts, and chromoly control arms on my Rubicon Express long arm kit. The explosion like impact shook me up, but the Jeep held up, and I am alive to tell you all. By the way, I have a purchase order for a 2013 JKU Rubicon that I take delivery on this weekend! :thumb:

Holy crap. Imagine if you were in a car. I think it'll buff out though.

Wow. Glad you are alright! I never "enjoy" seeing anything like this happen to a fellow Jeeper, or anyone for that matter. Shows how a resilient a Jeep can be despite their poor crash test ratings. Nice to see you chose another Jeep :thumb: Once again, sorry about your Jeep but happy you're OK. :flowers:

Those bumpers were awesome, and I will be building the 2013 up almost like this one, but with a few more goodies. I didn't see the impact coming, luckily, or else I may have tensed up and really been hurt. The front doors were tweaked a little, but not bad. The rear frame turned into a pretzel as seen in one of the pics. All I remember is looking at all the brake lights in front of me moving slowly, and then a huge explosion and glass flying everywhere. I was dazed for a few minutes, and then started feeling minor injuries in my leg, back, neck, and head.

Now that you mention it Yeller, my father in law is gonna look at this thread whether he likes it or not. I am told everytime I see him how unsafe Jeeps are. Again lo lo... Im really glad youre ok. I was a fire fighter for 10 years and from first hand experience, this coulda been alot worse. Good luck with the '13 build and be sure to keep us updated. Lots and lots of pics.

Doesn't get much safer than that! I don't think a 5 star safety rated car would have faired as well. You kept your winch I'm assuming?

What a crappy night, glad you are ok. Did you happen to get any pics of the back seats where they broke?

I appreciate the comments everyone. The firefighters and EMTs on the scene even told me that the modifications on my Jeep are what saved me, or else I could of been crushed from the impact.
