Put a pry bar between the skid and the t/c. If you can lift the t/c it means the mount is bad. I had the same issue on my 98. It would knock coming out of first gear unless I let the clutch out real slow. Replacing the mount is easy. Jack stand under the tranny, Four nuts in center of skid, drop the skid (three bolts on each side) , unbolt the mount and slap in the new one. It was a $35 part and 30 minutes worth of time. Hope this helps. Good Luck. Neil
