Well after reading another thread, I didn't expect that. They didn't even attempt to talk me out of canceling. My contract expires on July 24 being that it was 'free' first year with the Jeep. I'm split on Sirius like most here. I like the variety: sports, news, all music types, etc. On the other hand, the quality is CRAP, we can all agree on that. There is no way I'd pay $159/yr for that quality. Judging from previous threads, it appears ~ $75/yr is the best anyone has gotten. I imagine I'll get something in the mail rather quickly with a 'better' price. It just sucks I'll have to wait around to play their game. If you all have any advice, I'll take it. I don't want to wait months to get my Sirius back...

Believe me, they will send you all kinds of crap in the mail!! Mine expired Feb of this year and I refuse to renew. I get offer letters a few times a month to renew at lower prices. I know there are cool channels etc, but I just can't do it. Radio has been free my entire life and I am not about to start paying for it now.

Even when I had my subscription, I only turned on Sirius once, that was when we were tailgating for a University of Michigan Football game. Either I listen to the 'free' radio or I play my iPod.

A couple of weeks after I canceled, I got an offer for 6 months for $25. They will try to get you back.
^This.

They don't mind you leaving.....Today.
But for the next year or two, you'll be getting offers via phone calls, emails, and letters. You can never really leave Sirius...They're like the "overly attached girlfriend" of subscription services.

I pay for sat radio in my car. I'm in my car about 1.5 hours per day, so I feel it's worth it. I LOVE music, and I DESPISE commercials.

I drive my jeep on the weekends, and that's not even every weekend, so I decided to cancel the service in it. Just didn't feel like it was worth it.

On another note, the sound quality of sat radio in the jeep sucked. It's great in my car, but crappy in the jeep. All other music sounds great in the jeep however.

I let mine expire.

It is nice to not have commercials & the special channels are great, but you're paying for radio.

I got a 16GB SD card for my Galaxy phone, copied my whole music collection of 300+/- CD's as MP's (well OK, not the Gary Cherone version of Van Halen) to it & stream over Blue Tooth now. Not a bad song on the play list & it's free.

I love satellite radio personally for the sports and I'll pay for the lack of commercials. I love it when I travel.

As stated above though..they are desperate for subscribers and will give you deals

My problem with Sirius/XM is that it is one company, but isn't. If you have a Sirius and XM radio, you have to have two separate accounts. They have channels that are JUST XM or JUST Sirius, unless you pay more. I prefer XM (love O&A), but I don't want to pay the premium on Sirius to get the channels I like more. I'm on the fence whether I'll renew when it's up in September, even at a very discounted price.

I only like channel 59 - the highway which is the country music station. Wish I could only pay for that instead of 100+ more channels I don't listen too.

I've noticed the main channels have higher quality and some are horrid.

The thing I like the most about it - 75 miles into Mojave or going through 4 different states, I have reception and don't have to hunt for local FM stations.

Within 2 months you'll be getting the "We want you back letter" If you have a smart phone you have no need for sirius just either bluetooth connect and play all you music or hard wire play.

When my free subsciption ran out on my 08 they offered it (after I didn't renew) for $6.50 a month ($159.95 annually regular). Every year I would play the cancel game. By 2012 the had me at $7.50 a month. Free for a year again (new 2013 Jeep) and wouldn't pay for radio except I'm in my Jeep all the time.

My jeep doesn't have bluetooth, but I fabbed up a mount on my dash that my otterbox clip will slide over, and have a cord that plugs into the aux jack.

If you renew make damn sure you pay with a money order or be prepared to cancel your card at the end of your subscription or get auto paid full price for the following year.

Either that or see if your CC company has a virtual number like mine does. You log into your account on their website and get a temporary virtual number that's tied to your CC. The number is only good for the merchant who uses it the first time and it expires the following month.

No one ever knows what your true CC number is.

Years ago my wife paid something like $250 for a lifetime Sirius subscription. I thought it only applied to the radio she had at the time. However, when we bought our 2013 Sahara earlier this year they switched it over to the new radio.

X2, we had to jump through hoops to opt out of auto-renew and even after all that I'm sure that we'll get hit with a full sub charge after 6 months. My suggestion would be to pay with a pre-paid credit card.
