I have a 2002 TJ Sport, 4.0 (hard top in the winter, soft top in the summah) The head unit is kaput, and the previous owner reckons it drains the battery when left on, I take the fuse out at the moment, could be a jammed CD in there! Anyway, I am replacing it and all the speakers. I don't have a subwoofer in the console, don't really want one there or anywhere else as I need the space!

Looking Polk/Kicker speakers, 5 1/4 in the dash (with adapters) and same in the roll bar. Are there any 6 1/2s that will fit directly in the existing roll bar without modification? As for head unit/receiver , I don't need a CD player but want media player, usb, Bluetooth, iPhone/Siri support.

Any recommendations? Looking on Crutchfield but wow, their prices are high especially compared to Amazon Prime. Almost double the price on a few items that Crutchfield suggested!

Will look on eBay as well. Crutchfield charge a load more, that's lot for a "free" dash kit and a "free" wiring harness.

I just used Crutchfield for a Sony Bluetooth deck, 4x6 Kickers in the dash and 5-1/4 Kickers for the rollbar. It was all less than $250 and came with all the adapters and connections. And it rocks!

Glad you like the upgrade! I will call Crutchfield tomorrow, may well let them know the prices on Amazon Prime! I don't need ear bleeding bass but some distinguishable bass would be good as I don't want to take up storage space with an amp or subwoofer. I cram a lot of lighting gear into my jeep!

I just put 6.5" Infinities in mine the other day. Used same holes a factory, just angled the screws in. also adding some insulation around the outer protions of the box. Sounds better than stock, but I believe a need a little more power to them to get the full benefit. I'll be looking for 5 1/4" and a high powered head unit next.

There are tons of threads on speakers and audio. Do a search and you can read for hours on end.

Read up for hours last night! A bunch of options but I think I will go for 5 1/4" Polk db521 in the dash, and the same or the 6 1/2" db6501 in the roll bar. I drive with the top down a lot in the summer so want something more weather sealed. Still have not made up my mind on the Head Unit, any suggestions? I don't think I have room for a subwoofer.

I have a 2006 with the sound pods. I just put the Polk 521s with the Nailn adapters in the front and went with the 651 S model in the rear. The 651s almost fit but you can't use your stock grilles, so the Polk grills will stick down a bit (not flush but no gap between grille. If you have the sound bar I have heard 6.5s will fit. Something you will find with that setup is the need for bass. The 6.5s do help but I just bought a used Sound Ordnance powered sub on eBay. Great reviews for those on crutchfield.

I recently bought a Pioneer MVH-X560BT. It's a great unit. No CD, but you can hook up you phone or ipod to it, and it has Bluetooth, plus, three sets of RCA outs.
I have a four channel amp under the drivers seat pushing the front and sound bar speakers, and a 12 inch sub in the rear seat with a Audiopipe APSM-1300 Mono amp driving it. I highly recommend both products. The head unit has a ton of features, and the amp is amazing for its size, the bass is incredible. The best part is, you can't see any of it, and I keep my back seat and cargo space.

I'm a big fan of the Polk speakers. Great performance and price for the purpose.

I just had a Memphis marine system put in mine. The deck and speakers are completely waterproof. Which is a necessity for when I hose my jeep down after mudding and what not. Also I don't have my top on ever... If it rains I get wet and so do the speakers. I'm going on a year with them and no complaints. Sounds great!
