Does anyone know of any good trails here in southern maine (around biddeford type southern maine) that we can "legally" wheel on? I want to get out and start having some fun, but I also don't want to drop $250 for camp jeep or wreck my jeep since it's my commuter... might need to wait for spring though...

ok, so I found some decent back roads. It's the old kennebunk road. If you look at a map, off of the turnpike exit in Kennebunk, head north-west down into west kennebunk on the Alfred Road. You go straight at the blinking red light (this crosses thompson road), past the Kennebunk Animal Shelter. Keep going straight and you'll see on the map where the road splits off in like a three pronged Y (old falls road goes off to the left, cole road goes off to the right). Keep going straight on what's called middle road on google maps, and the road finally crosses the old north berwick road. Go straight across this somewhat main road and it turns into a dirt road. There's an excavation company down this road a ways with an active quarry. Just past the quary area the road heads up into the woods and gets pretty rocky. This road itself isn't terribly amazing jeeping, but there's a bunch of little side trails that head off into the woods down a ways. Some are wired off, some aren't... I found it by accident coming from another direction, but figured out once I got home where exactly the road is.

here's directions from the turnpike: look at this map and it's pretty self explanatory

Some nice trails in Berwick around Murdock lake:
Take Rte 9 into Berwick.
Turn right onto Wilson Rd (at traffic light).
Turn Right at first stop sign (Sullivan Rd).
Bear left onto Pine Hill Road
Take Pine Hill Rd about 2 miles
Turn left onto Ridlon Rd.
Ridlon road becomes dirt road after 1/2 mile or so.
You'll cross the Salmon Falls river.
You'll see a Sod farm on your left.
Around this point you'll begin to see some dirt turn-offs on your right. These are trails to and around the lake. Here are the GPS coordinates: 43.3241N 70.8855W

Also some nice mud to play in nearby.

Here's a shot from last weekend:

I'd like to go out on Sunday or Monday most likely. I'd like to run moderate trails, not aiming for breakdowns because I have to drive it home 8 hrs.

Hey guys I'm in southern maine and would be interested in starting a club up if anyone is still interested.
I didn't contribute earlier in the thread, but I would be interested in some light or medium wheeling. I just bought my first Jeep (2013 JK) last August. I'm in Windham, you are not far down the 'pike...

Yea deff. I don't necessarily have to pilot this but would love to get something going. I also am looking for light to medium trailing.

I'm in Portland. I'm always down for some trail riding. Lewiston at All Wheels seems to be the best I've found around here though I am not originally from this area.

i would totally be down to do some wheeling, if yall can deal with a non-jeeper lol. what the hell am i doing here you ask? well just looking for trails actually. ive got a sierra 1500, does the trick all right. looking for a spot to do some wheelin and have a place to stop for some woods campin. I found a place near dutch elm golf course last night that wasnt marked 'no trespassing' so I am going to check it out tonight. Lovin the shot of Murdock lake above...might check that out too. any other places nearby?
