What are the rubber protection things called coming off the tailgate that are supposed to be snug up against the tire? I thought they were called bump stops, but thats wrong.

These are 33" KM2s. If the bump deals were extended and up against the tire snug, would that take the stress off the tailgate? So you wouldn't need a hinge carrier or any other upgrades other than the extension things?

This isn't my vehicle, I just saw it in a parking lot. I've got a 2014 on order and want 33s, so I'm just trying to plan for everything.

A quick and cheap mod to extend the rubber stops is to buy a length of 1.25" dishwasher hose, it fits perfectly inside the stops and can be cut to the exact length to support a different wheel/tire combo.

Your bump stops look a lot different than the ones posted above on the red jeep. Hopefully the 2014s come with the stock bump stops that look like yours.
