I have the 33 engineering brackets to put 5.25's in the front. They worked very well. If you have a backseat and want a sub, I suggest going with one that goes in the console. Or you can just pull the backseat. ;) Mine looks great on a shelf in the garage.

SirgCal has plans so you can mount subs IN the rear seat. I have 5.25's in my dash (MBQuart) and Kicker 6x9's in the soundbar (designed for them). I have a Kicker sub in my Tuffy center console. There is as bit of vibe from it and I wish I could get that to stop, but I'm not willing to put in a separate sub unit to take up space or require the back seat.

I just need to better insulate the Tuffy.

I have Boston 5 1/4 in the dash using the 33 engineering bracket. They are components with the 3/4" tweeters and crossovers. You can mount the tweeter to the uper outside screw adn it all fits behind the grill. I also have Boston 5 1/4 in the sound bar and a Kenwood head unit w/ ipod input and sirius hooked up. I wish I had a sub but I haven't gotten around to it yet. The Bostons do sound really good though, would sound much better if I had an amp hooked to the components.

I have an 03 TJ. I have Infinity 4x6 fronts Infinity kappa 6.5 components in the sound bar. Alpine head unit. I put both my MTX amps under the back seat. I have a box with 2 10s in it that takes up all the room behind the back seat. I have it set it so I can remove the box if I go wheelin'. Sounds great with top up or down and the box is easy for ME to remove. (Not easy to steal though)

Good to see they learned something from the impossible access situation (if you have man sized hands) on the YJ dash. I bought replacements for the dash speakers but have given up trying to replace them.

Hi,
i just saw you are looking for a sound bar.. i have 2 custom made soundbars that fit 2 6x9 speakers.. i'm trying to get rid of one for 40 bucks while the other one is in my wrangler :D.. Check my car domain page 3 for few pics.. the one i'm selling has 3/4" wood instead of the skinny wood i'm using for the one pictured but doesnt sound much different so thats why i'm selling it.. I thought that thicker wood may sound better but it doesnt so i'm trying to get rid of it now and cover the cost of my materials. I moved my stock sound bar in the front and i'm pleased with the sound the 2 sound bars make when they are placed one in front and one in back. Since we are preatty close we can meet up so you can see how mine sounds and pick it up if you are interested. Send me a pm and let me know what you want to do.

^^ thats his website

he sent me that when i first joined.. problem is i had a 2nd soundbar. he misread what i said.. but he has a nice setup that would add speakers up on the rollbar.. check em out.. they are pretty nice and alot cheaper than buyin a stock or aftermarket soundbar

677,
It looks like some kind of particle board or MDF.

I like riding with the top down too much to use anything like that. I've been caught in the rain too many times.

he beat me to it

i put a pair of infinity kappa perfect speakers in my sound bar and they sound amazing. i also have an audiobahn 10" sub in a banpass box powered by a 1200 watt audiobahn amp that powers both the sub and speakers. I mounted my amp under the back seat and the sub is bolted down to the floor behind the rear seat. for a head unit i have a pioneer with sirius radio and bluetooth, i suggest staying away from sony all of there stuff is crap, i would never use any of it.

whoa, bad experiences with sony i take it. as for me, ihave owned pretty much every major brand of speaker, subs, and components over the years (went through my hip-hop and subwoofer stage back in highschool). you get what you pay for and for me, sony is the best i have found at the cheap price. you could get a much better speaker for more $ but who wants to pay for something that gets put through the elements? i get caught in the rain way to much to throw some $100 4x6's in my dash. *jmo*

as for the subs : http://speakerboxcentral.com/

Thanks MoA i'm glad you liked it.

it´s 8 millimeter plywood (is this the right word for that...?).
Make sure its MDF not any other kind of plywood (mdf is really dense and feels soft to the touch).. i'd now after 2 sound bars recomend 3/8" to 1/2" Other sizes will work also but its just unnecesarry cutting. The sound bar i have on my web uses 1/4" wood and it sounded preatty bad at first (still way better than stock soundbar) so i ported it and it sounds good now preatty much just the same as that 3/4" bar that i'm trying to get rid of.

9MM ~ 3/8"
13MM ~ 1/2"

Forgot to tell you.. moving the sound bar in the front will give you a bit of hard time unclipping the roof

a buddy made a speaker housing for the front out of MDF:

and a subwoofer for the center cosole:

but thats too much work for me. in my opinion my 4 sony speakers and the stock subwoofer don´t sound bad.

that sub looks nice, good job designing it.. too bad the box looks too small for the size of that speaker.. usually a smaller speaker sounds better in a bigger box than vise versa

btw any one wants stock sound bar speaker covers?
similar and used...

"They" say that round speakers put out better sound than ovals, and that front speakers are where you should get the most sound from ... the back speakers are just to fill in the sound. I have a 4 speaker sound bar. I disconnected my Blaupunkts mounted in brackets in the rear footwells. Useless. And I did the bracket/ round speaker upgrade in the front using some Polks. It was an easy install, and I like the improved sound.
