this is my first post but have already scheduled an install of new audio for June 3rd and all the items are on there way but the speakers I ordered are Kicker KS 6.5 components and they have an RMS of 125 and the per channel of the amp is 45 with a tested output of 53 to 55 generally. I always get confused with this stuff just want to know if the speakers I ordered are over kill. just looking at the specs makes me think that the speakers might be too much or am I mistaken? I have a 2017 Sahara 45th anniversary edition two door, only had 5800 on it and saved about 10K off the original sticker :)

I was about to recommend that you don't worry about it, but wondered if there were any "gotchas" regarding the Kickers. I found this on their web page:

"These KS separates work best with 125 watts of recommended power. See below for more details."
"Sensitivity [1W, 1m] 88"

So the sensitivity isn't great on those Kickers, but not unusual. If you choose something that's in the 90-93 dB range, it has the same effect of having MUCH more power on your Kickers. (Double the power = 3dB increase in output).

So all else held equal, if your current amp puts out 50 watts, going to a speaker thats 91dB efficient would in theory have the same output as the Kickers with a 100 watt amp. This is a simplified example and there are other factors, but I would either look at more efficient speakers from Morel, JL Audio, Polk, etc, or buy a bigger amp if you want to keep the Kickers.

Keep in mind that higher efficiency DOES NOT mean that another option will sound better to you. I'd recommend finding something you like the sound of and then figure out what amp to buy.

thanks crazychile, I looked in to some Polk since that is what I used in the doors of my previous camaros and I loved them but price and specs are pretty similar so after reaching out to Kicker I think I will just stick to the Speakers I ordered, think I will be fine and I have a precision power amp that is 900W 4ch if I wanted something putting out more. but what I read about the key makes me think it will be perfect for the Wrangler. thanks :)

got to looking around and found the factory manual on line and the 88 is a misquote, Best buy messes up a lot of product descriptions. it is actually 90

I had kicker speakers writhe n Alpine KTP-44U amp and they kicked but and gave good mid bass. Better than my Alpine component speakers with the same amp.
You will be fine and happy.
Just get a small powered sub to round out the sound and some kick to feel the music.

what I am going to do is have the Kicker KS speakers with the Key amp installed to see how I like it, won't know if the bass is satisfactory til I listen to it for a bit. if I need more bass then will go with one of a few options that I have looked at, the kicker hideaway 8 inch, and a couple others. the fella I have doing it is a guy named brandon that has done my last three audio upgrades and he has done a great job on all of them. I have a service plan for the next year thru bestbuy that will cover the installation when I decide if I need more "BOOM" got some vacation time in the next few months so will have several opportunities to have that upgraded if I need it.

The Kicker HS8 Hideaway is awesome! Better than the Alpine PSW-8
