got pulled over tonight, cop said he clocked me at 36 in a 25, well he wrote the ticket for 35 and told me that if i was doin under 35 he wouldnt have even pulled me over because he said he is very lenient (spl). well my tires are 235/75s so just a little bigger than stock and im puttin 31s on on monday so i told him that i had bigger tires which threw my speedo off. he was like "well i had the same thing happen with my truck, just get it fixed and bring in a receipt and we'll drop the charges".. so im going to get it calibrated since i have to for my new tires anyways..anyone know how much a speedo calibration costs at most shops??

For what it's worth, most shops charge between 50 and 75 dollars for a recalibration.
damn :( yea imma try that route, and i did i have a 2 door car before my jeep that i put a lot of money in, got 2 tickets and was pulled over alllllllll the time in it (loud exhaust, tint, etc,) and this is the first time being pulled over in the jeep, i never spend since i got it, kinda hard too with a 4cyl:punk:

I doubt those tires are gonna make that big of a difference. My 33's don't. My speedo is pretty close to what my wife's stock Sport Trac says. Along with every radar sign I pass. I say just quit speeding if you want to avoid a ticket. In Georgia, as well as a lot of other states, it won't go on your record unless its 15 over or more. Virginia is a communist state though. Can't even have a radar detector. Whats up with that?

i now to quit speeding guys, i posted this soley to find out how much a recalibration costs on average, thats the only question i asked, and neverfastenough1 not worried about my record , worried bout insurance which would go up, also not worried bout the speedo being off but its gonna get me outta the ticket soooo, and i also agree with virginia being a communist state (comonwealth actually) we have so many stupid rules and laws

If it doesn't go on your record, your insurance shouldn't go up. The don't speed came off wrong, and I am not one to talk because I didn't trade my Stang in on the Jeep just so I would have something to get from point A to point B a little faster than I should. I have plenty of 20+ over tickets unfortunately, and its really not good on a CDL.

I seriously doubt they will "drop" the charges...but if they do....good luck on that and you're one lucky guy/gal...
fight the ticket always.worst that can happen is you pay the ticket.
I don't know what they have going on over in Virginia but it sounds like what Oregon has. It's called "fix a ticket" and it does work. I got a ticket for no mudflaps on my Jeep after I lifted it. I took in the receipt and the Jeep to the court house and a cop came out to see the mudflaps and the ticket was dropped. Simple as that.

Neil F- the only reason i want to recalibrate it is to get out of the speeding ticket lol and i need written proof from a shop in order to get out of the ticket, fixing it myself would be completely the opposite
Neverfastenough1- no worries lol

Yupp Virginia is the same, had a friend got a ticket for not having baffles in his muffler on his civic, he went and bought some, put them in, and drove to the court house and a cop went out and checked to make sure the baffles were in and the ticket was dropped lol

It is a violation of the Terms of Service to promote criminal activity such as asking a repair shop to just print out a receipt to get out of a ticket.

I don't want to see any more talk about it. You have been warned.
