I've posted this issue before (elsewhere) regarding a strange 'High Pitch' sort of 'Squealing Sound' which is exacerbated by pressing on the pedal then (then disappears) temporarily but comes back again with a vengeance until the engine cools down ... I live in warm climate (Southern Fl), but by Jan - Feb I could hear the ole squeal come back ....
First let me explain I'm 73 years old and NOT an 'Off Roader'
In any event most replies I get is that there's a possibility bolts on the 'Intake Exhaust Manifold' could be 'loose' (or) the tin/metal gasket could be worn ??
Wondering how the chaps here sound out about this one?
Squeels are almost always rotational like a pulley or belt. Rattles would be loose bolts or loose shields. On a TJ, the most likely culprit would be the tensioner or idler pulleys.
Judging from what I've seen on You Tube, I'm gonna guess again it could be those Manifold Bolts? Why do I say that? The Serpentine Belt and Water Pump have all be replaced previously; the Serpentine Belt (more than once/twice) during the time of the Squeal - Whistle Problem ...

I've seen guys tackle those bolts (very difficult to get at). Special angled speed wrench necessary ...?
Nothing to it but to do it. If you have a set of sockets and a couple different length extensions you should be fine. Here's a link to a set of wobble head extensions. HF has other sets in 3/8 and 1/2" drive. The wobble head extensions give the mechanic a bit more flexibility in difficult to reach areas.

Start in the middle and work alternately to the front and then to the rear. I'd rather use a 1/2" drive socket set, but a 3/8" drive set should work OK.
You don't state what engine you have. I had a similar situation on my carbureted 4.2. It was driving me batty. I read on this forum where it might be the manifold bolts. I tightened them (several were sorta loose and a couple were very loose). I haven't heard the noise since. I figured I'd probably have to change the intake/exhaust manifold gaskets, but that was 6 or 7 years ago and the noise hasn't returned.
Go ahead and crank them down. Let us know what happens.

Hope I have the same luck - although as the other fellows stated; (as well as the You Tube comments), it could still be Idler pulley, tensioner, alternator, power steering pump etc....
We'll see?
