wondering this since fixing my wandering issues. turns out my new steering stabilizer was positioned a little wrong and when the tie rod would rotate back it would tap the underside of the track bar mount and stop the rotation.

i get it needs to rotate but why? what is the benefit of a ball in socket joint over a fixed joint in a bar that just moves back and forth? and why would this bind cause wander?

i wouldn't think so either but nevertheless as soon as the ss was repositioned and the tie rod could rotate freely all wander went away. but that's why i'm curious about the physics behind the tie rods rotation.

there was some resistance while turning either direction that also went away but yes straight forward wander disappeared as well.
