Staggered Tire Setup for JKU

Advise needed. I have a 2010 JKU with a 3" Lift. Currently running 285/70/17 Cooper St Max with wheel spacers. I want to change to the 265/70/17 Coopers, but just recently bought 2 new tires for the front. Would it be possible to swap out the front ones with 265s [leave spacers] and swap the current front 285s to the back and remove the spacers to match try and match the width up, until I replace all 4. I am more worried it might affect the ABS and stability control readings on the sensors? Any advice would be appreciated.

do not use 4wd if you do that. width has nothing to do with it, it is the height that will screw things up. Can you do it probably but should you no.
You might have problems with speed sensors because your computer will detect that the front tires are rotating at a different speed than the rear tires. The larger tire will be rotating more slowly.
Yeah that's what I figured
I would go buy 4 or 5 of the 265’s and sell the 285’s if you really want to change to a smaller size.
I‘m sure there is someone out there ready to buy 2 newer tires or maybe all 5
