My 09 Wrangler X growls on cold days, below 40 degrees. Sounds like the starter solenoid stays engaged for a sec. Only does it once after initial start. Any fix suggestions? Old retired guy. Can crawl under jeep but would have to stay there... Thx

I would guess your right. Except I don't think it's the solenoid. The starter shaft probably (not sure of the proper name) isn't disengaging properly when it's cold. Which explains why after you warm it up it works fine. Eventually you could wear the gears down and the starter will just spin.

Mopar starters. Got to love them. I'd get it replaced soon before it leaves you somewhere.
