I'm presently running the 17" factory alloy wheels with a 285 Nitto Terrain Grappler AT with spacers on a 2" level kit.

I'm thinking of running a set of dedicated Mud Terrain tires for the SoFlo mud we have to play in.

So steel wheels with 305/70/17s as opposed to alloy wheels.

Is this practical, it will fit the 2" level with no problem.

You won't have any trouble with steel wheels - tons of people go that route and it's nice to have a set of cheaper wheels you don't have to worry about. Just keep in mind they can rust if you don't keep up with scratches or dings.

How much are you actually saving?

Inexpensive alloy 17s can be had for around $100 per, and most steelies I see sit around the same price.

So where is the benefit there? Or are you worried about damage?
