Would it be best to paint my stock wheels with no tires on them?
I have stock TJ steel wheels with no tires on them. I ordered tires today and was thinking when mounting, the tire tool and tire will scrape paint/bedliner whatever I use of the rim.
Should I go ahead and paint and maybe get a better balance then touch them up later?
Anyone care to try and talk me out of using RUST-OLEUM truck bed coating?

I’ve searched, I wish I could list all the Rattle can options and poll.

Bed liner
Plastidip
High Heat
Hammered
Caliper paint

I see a lot of friendly and generous contributing members posting nice picks of new paint but no three winters and many pressure washes later picks.

I had on '02 Jeep Liberty with steel wheels. I wheeled the crap outta it and scratched the wheels up pretty good. I ended up taking steel wool to them, wiped them down with rubbing alcohol, stuck index cards around between the tire and wheel, and went to town with Dupli-Color High Performance Wheel Paint. I think I did about 4 coats letting each dry and then hit it with a clear coat. Used 3 cans at $5 each. Turned out pretty good.
Oh, paint still looked good after 2 years and many offroad trips to Uwharrie and LBL. Then I traded the Libby in for a 2012 JKUR.
