So I replaced u joints and still getting a grinding and thumping noise in front tranny area... Only when starting out in first when letting out of the clutch. Goes in gear fine and stays in gear no slipping! Hoping someone has some input on this

2 things pilot bearing dry or the input bearing in the trans.

Not much help both require a tranny drop.

If its a 2.5L you can remove the dust shield after you drop the starter and take a look. If its a six cylinder no luck.

You can change the fluid hoping it would go away.

No easy answers here.

If it is a manual drop the starter and remove the bolts and the cover will come off. You can hang the starter and see what you get for noise. After that experiment you can pull the shift boot off in the cab and reinstall the stick and drive it and see if that helps narrow down the source of your noise.
