So, does a YJ have a low fuel light? Seems I'm getting way below the E mark on the gauge (low enough to make me nervous about pushing it around because I don't have a jerry can rack yet), but I'm only putting 16-17g in when I fill up. Is there a low fuel light that'll come on when I'm really low?

My STAR report shows that the Jeep does have the 20g tank, so I know I'm not empty...that and the fact that it took 17g the other day would have put me past the limit for the stock tank (15 or 16, I think). Just wondering if there's a light I can rely on / wait for / put a new bulb in.

...I could always put in the bulb I took out of the upshift light, LOL!

My 94 Sahara has low fuel light. When it pops on, it aint joking. It's almost too late when mine comes on. You may not be running it low enough, but that's not a good thing anyway. Possibly yours may not be working.

As I recall all YJ's have the same size tank.. however the 4cyl have a plug in the tank that limited it to say 14 or 15gals. which can be taken out to get the 19 gal tank...was a way to make more money. At least that it what I think happened....

My Sahara only takes 15 gallons at the most and that's if I run it down to the line. I don't believe I have a low fuel light either. If I do, it doesn't work.

I shined a light into my dash and it is definetly there on mine. I could care less about it though. The one I hate is the one that tells you when you need to shift. Who thought that thing up? if you need a light to tell you, then you don't need a stick. It doesn't exactly coincide with my shifting anyway. end of rant.

So, is it in the same little light cluster as the shift light? I have the bulb I pulled out of the shift light ;) , I'm sure I could install it in the fuel light just to be safe...

It's no more than 13......been driving mine for 7 years and the one time I pumped more than 13 gal I went into the station and told them the pumps were off!!

The tank is actually much larger than 13 gallons. Has to do with the filler. You can easily (well, not that easy...) convert your tank to 19 gallons. I can get 20 when I'm real low. The tanks are the same.

I have a 94 and it doesn't have a low fuel light, or it doesn't work. My gauge never gets to E, it runs out at the 1/8th tank line, but goes way past F. I found this out the hard way. I took it for a test drive, went about 5 miles, and had to have a cop call the dealership. My tank holds around 15 gallons, but I can't tell how much is left because of the inaccurate gauge.
