I have a 2013 Sahara unlimited on BF Goodrich 315/70r17’s and I want to go up to a 37 inch tire. Would a 37x12.5r17 work with the slight difference in width?

Welcome to the Forum, from Cave Creek AZ.
What do you plan on using your Jeep for? Rock Crawling? Daily driver? Light trail running?

It will make a difference. Guessing you have a D30 axle up front?

Welcome.. That is a HUGE Jump UP.. as HKLover asked..Plus what mods do you have already; i.e.. Lift / Suspension - wheels - Fenders? All those are needed & more to make that Jump Up.

3" additional diameter and about 1/10 inch additional width.
First question is how do you use your Wrangler?
If you use it off road, there is a lot of money required to upgrade from 35" tires to 37" tires.
If you only use it on road, it may not be as expensive, because their may be less need to do it right.
But the line between 35" tires and 37" tires with a Wrangler is an expensive line to cross.
The additional forces, stresses, and wear, from 37" tires means things tend to need upgrading, replacing more often due to wear, or both.
Plus, your gearing will become taller, reducing performance. And your brakes will be reduced by the same amount, resulting in reduced braking performance.
Common upgrades for 37's include a stronger front axle (D44 or better), stronger ball joints, stronger axle shafts, stronger track bars (front and rear), stronger drag link, bigger brakes, hydro assist steering, and re-gearing.
This is mainly down to the stock JK / JKU being good for up to 35" tires. The stock pieces are really only reliably good for up to 35" tires. Going larger may result in exceeding the capabilities of the stock parts.
If you don't off road, if you only drive your Jeep to the mall, you may find that you can live with the reduced performance, both accelerating and braking. Personally, I couldn't live with that. We run 37's, but we have almost all the mods listed and plan on adding the final component, hydro assist steering, in the near future. Sometimes the stock steering just can't turn those 37's.
