so was in a discussion with my buddy today and he said my jeep needs an SYE with the 4inch lift i am putting in it. i have a 4cyl AX-5 tranny dunno about the transfer case just lookin to see if anyone can tell me if i need it or the drop kit is all i needed

I would think that what ever 4" lift kit you buy, it should come with a skid plate drop kit. That is all that is required on a 4" lift, to drop the skid plate about 1.5". That will take care of your rear drive shaft angle. Rubicon's don't have to drop the skid plate as they already have a yoke at each end of the drive shaft.

I had problems with my transfer case drop kit and had to get an SYE. I don't recommend using the drop kit as it's just a quick cheap solution not having an SYE and we all know what quick and cheap can do...

I agree with Naviathan that it's 6 of one half dozen of the other when it comes to getting vibes on a 4 inch lift. Some do some don't. Some use the drop some don't need it. Last YJ I did with a 4" lift would lose the shaft off off the slipe yoke when flexed while wheeling.

Plus why lift your jeep and put bigger tires on it just to lower the clearance of the belly pan?
