The Anvil F-Cancer build

Now that my lemon law case has finished through and I dont have to worry about it anymore... its time to start all over.

Turned in a 2013 JKU sport in dune. Came out with a 2014 JKUR in anvil. I loved my dune color but couldnt find a new one local in my price range. I decided this time instead of dreaming about lockers, and a d44 up front, I would just do it right.

Me and the girlfriend with my brand new jeep!

dont mind the smirk and/or my poor attire, had just got off a 24 hr shift and was ready to take my jeep home and sleep! haha

As you can see I got the wheels that normally come on the Willy's Wheeler edition. Really just dumb luck, but I liked the wheels so its a bonus for me! I received the jeep 1 day after being unloaded off the train!

So now what?
My plan is a dual purpose build. I am NOT a hardcore rock crawler. However, I did wheel my sport to the edge of its capabilities with a lift and other goodies. So I will make this one better. I also do a lot of camping, scuba, and trips to the desert, so I will be adding practical modifications as I go!

I had SOME things left over that I removed from the sport. Some things were sold as I didnt know how the case was going to be handled for a quick minute and thought it would be good to have the extra cash around.

Installed a new bumper to mount my existing winch to. (I have the harbor freight 12k... I decided new jeep new winch and used the warranty for a new shiny one) I did 8-10 pulls with it and gave it a real good workout on a 2 of them and it never failed me.

Using left over bits from the lift I removed from the sport, and some new added goodness I put on a 2.5" lift.

Mostly teraflex parts, added ranch rs9000xl shocks for 3" lift, as well as rancho geometry brackets and RR exhaust spacers. At that time I also installed 1.5" wheel spacers in anticipation of some bigger tires. Also it really made the stance better.

I have since installed some of those inexpensive amazon led work lights. Its great having extra lighting when setting up a campsite, or night wheeling.. although I dont do a ton of night wheeling. The 22" light bar on the bumper rarely comes on but it really helps if I need it. The two work lights are great because the spread so much light. I also added some led lights to my rear bumper.. will be adding a mini write up soon.

Built myself a little SPOd to control everything

front lights all lit up

I installed the daystar lower dash panel switches to control everything

Anvil Rocks! Looking good!
Thank you! I am constantly getting compliments on the color!

took some more pictures today

here it is with the new Rancho geometry brackets! I have to say I did feel a difference in handling and braking. lower control arms are almost perfectly parallel with the ground!

also I installed some recessed led rear bumper lights!

I wanted something I could switch on to light up when unloading in the dark, or for more light when reversing, these work great!

Here is a closeup of the windshield lights from amazon

they put out a ton of useful light

also I installed my cb antenna.

On my previous jeep I just used the spare tire bracket, this time around I wanted to do everything right. I used the cooltech llc license plate mount. Everything but the stud is hidden in the license plate. I put a spring on to reduce chances of snagging the antenna and breaking it on the trail.

I installed the cobra 75 to keep everything looking clean.

this is the body of the cb behind the glove box

this is where I can plug in the main speaker/mic unit. On the 75 all the cb functions are built into the mic, so I just plug it in and im ready to go.

and when the mic is stowed you would have to look for the female plug to know there is a cb in there

all kinds of fun things to slice and dice your fingers on under the seats and dash

Looks good :thumb: I will be following your build, waiting to take delivery of my black 2015 JKUR.

Out of curiosity, which wheel spacers did you go with? You're right about improving the stance. I had spidertrax on my 2011 and never had any problems.

I'm also considering the TF 2.5" lift. How was your install? My Rancho 9000XL's are on the way, just trying to decide on the lift….

Had to laugh -- every time I work under the dash, I end up shedding blood.

Thank you!!
I went with the rough country, seem to be of same quality as my buddies spidertrax, I haven't noticed any cracks or stress marks in 5k miles.

There teraflex lift combo'd with the rancho 9000's is perfect! It rides really well! And for the price it's hard to beat! The install was pretty straight forward, just make sure you get the front up far enough to drop the axle for the new coils, and watch those brake lines! I pulled the bottom brackets out and it made things waaaaaaay easier.

Finally got some skids to add.

Picked up a pair of rancho diff glide plates off craigslist for the price of one! Just touched them up with paint and they are good as new

Front

Rear

I measured less than half an inch clearance loss, they fit pretty snug to the diff. Not bad at all for that extra assurance. Now I just need to test them out!!

Good info....thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to know. So no brake line extension brackets needed? I can't recall where I read that TF had some extension brackets for them....might have been for a different model year.
Keep it up, man!
You can get some extension brackets for the front iirc... But if you pop the little plate out of the mount on the bottom you will have plenty of room for droop

Finally got some trail pictures! Of course they are mostly poser shots, the only time I got to get out to snap some.

Beautiful view of the clouds and sun setting from the top

Looking good! Anvil is a great color. If i didn't get a Amp'd I'd have gotten anvil. Keep up the mods :)
Looks like a lot of fun. Jeep is looking really good!
Sweet trail pics!
Love it! Nice looking jeep man, and the opener is a pretty cool mod. I look forward to seeing how your entire build turns out.

Had a chance to go get dirty today, it was great!

Unfortunately jeep building has been put on hold. I was recently diagnosed with cancer (merry Christmas to me right?)

I dont know how much time ill have to tinker on my jeep or start new projects for a while at least.

Trying to keep my hopes up and my head high, as they say f*** cancer.
