Hi all! I will be in the market for sone new tires real soon and need some opinions/thoughts. I do not think that I can get "The perfect tire" but I will list what I want in a tire. My JKU is my DD but I do want to wheel with it. I plan on going with 315/75r16s or 35/12.50r15(more limiting, but less expensive, i have 3.73 gears and dont really want to change that if possible)

MUSTs - Excellent traction in rain, decent in snow, off-road worthy for rocks, sand, water, some mud (currently in FL, moving to TN next year), and #1 must = safe for my 2 & 4 yr olds :)

Would LIKE - beefy sidewalls, lowest weight possible, to pay less than $300/tire (know this wont always be possible)

Don't care about - street noise, how they balance (Im not doing this myself)

Any input on anything would be appreciated.

From the requirements listed, I'd recommend a siped bfg km2. They are one of the lightest 35's, and have a beefy sidewall, and when you get it siped it will increase its efficacy in rain and snow.

if you removed your request for a beefy sidewall, I'd recommend the duratrac.

Tell me about the Duratrec side walls, this is one of my biggest concerns with them. I really dont want to nail it on a rock and be done for...

the duratrac has a 2ply sidewall while the km2 is 3ply. I've had my duratracs for over a year and wheeled them, haven't popped or slashed one open yet (if I do, I've got the certs). I don't know what the terrain is like where you wheel, but around here there are rocks and branches that could puncture, but nothing too crazy.

that said, I'll probably be moving to km2's myself once I've worn these down, but mostly for the more aggressive tread.

How much does sipping usually cost and how much better would it handle in the rain? 75-80 on interstate in florida downpours?)

Very happy with my Pro Comp Xtreme MT 35x12.50-15 on 15x8 Pro Comp 52 on my JKU that I DD 100 miles a day. Great traction, price, awesome in the rocks.
