So I'm sitting in a parking lot when this dirt bag pulls up and decides rather than open his door and get out, it would be better to shove it open at mach 3 and bang it into the side of my Jeep. Fortunately I have sliders and a 2.5" lift. Small scrape on the sliders but it completely rolls the edge of his door in the shape of the pipe from the sliders.

Now he is mad at me for damaging his vehicle. Where has respect for others property and taking ownership in your own actions gone?

Honestly if the guy was being a DB like this about it I would make his insurance company fix the bad spot in the slider. Even if they looked like this. Just so he has to pay his part.

I can't stand people like this and don't mind going out of my way to put them in there place, even if its just for a little bit and dosnt accomplish anything significant.

I gotta say that is one benefit of having a Jeep... especially lifted... is protection against the AH that doesn't care about your vehicle. Glad to hear your sliders held their ground. Now maybe you should test out your lift clearance on this guys' front end "Bigfoot" style...

What happens when they show pics of rust on their door, not paint!

OP... I can't believe you were there to see it happen. I was sitting in a vehicle with tinted windows once when a lady pulled up beside me and threw her door open hard into my passenger side. She walked off and I had to jump out and catch up with her. It was about a 1/2 deep into a steel door!

In this case: Jeeps...1 Cars...0

I agree with what you said..

I got this to add..

This guy hit me, and then lied about everything.. well I would have let the Scratch go because well it was not bad but he lied and acted like as AZZ so he wound up paying out about $554 to have my Pre Runned guard re-painted

Me

Him

A month earlier this guy had been drinking, had pulled off the road so a car could go around him for some reason then pulled right back out in front of me. My tire tore up his bed and he was mad because I have big tires and damaged his truck *L*

Had he not been drinking, I would have dropped this to but you drink and drive you deserve to loose any and all right to drive period. He had to buy me a new fender and pay to have my steering realigned.

Accidents happen, that is understandable but if you park next to me and swing open your door or your kid kicks open the door and hit me, my Car or Jeep, we are goanna have words..

This is my absolute favorite thing about my jeep. I have custom sliders on it now that stick out about 4 inches. Happy to report I have ZERO dings in my door, but you can see where the wonderful people who I park next to have met my jeep. I believe it's a green, red and white car/suv so far.

I love finding new paint colors on my slider/steps. I always looks, then look to see if it matches the car next to me. :D

Not defending this guy at all if that's what really happened but I have to ask you the same of what you asked us. In other words, where's your respect for his property and where is your account of you taking ownership of your vehicle damaging his in his haste and solving the problem in your own actions?

You're angry and upset, I get it. And you already insulted and shamed the man by venting to us. What exactly is the outcome that you are seeking?

I have rock sliders on my Jeep and on several occasions, people have parked too close and opened their doors too fast, only to end up denting their own doors. A few times I've been in the Jeep when it's happened and proceeded to call to account the other person and hold them responsible.

(Fwiw I go out of my way to make sure that I NEVER ding anyone's doors - ever)

Sometimes they apologize, other times they don't. It used to bother me, but now not so much. It's been my experience that people who do this usually don't care about their vehicles or themselves so what's another ding to their vehicle?

I have no problem getting real nasty real quick with folks who do bs but have grown to realize that all the energy from that anger can be better invested doing more productive things.

So I park in the open spots a decent distance from the entrance of wherever I'm going. Usually the inconsiderate folks are way too lazy and in too much of a hurry to park across the parking lot where there's tons of vacant spaces and few vehicles. Just my $0.02.

Not sure I understand on what your saying but it sounds like since the op didn't park on the far side of the parking lot that he should take some blame aswell? Please tell me I'm reading this wrong.

He is just saying that the older you get the more you try to prevent issues rather than spend time dealing with them. I am still learning the lesson. Trying to let more stuff "go" and prevent the issues from popping up. Save myself a little rise in the blood pressure... at heart, I am still a hothead though...

So I guess 99% of the population is inconsiderate and lazy for wanting a close spot to the entrance of a store. Does that mean someone with a handicap sticker the worse offender of the pack??

Not saying that at all. Please re-read. The op asked us all a question, a question that I highlighted. I was merely asking him to answer his own question. Like I said, I'm not defending the other party at all but where and what is the OP's share of accountability in all of this? More importantly, what was the solution that he was seeking?

It's not a malicious question at all nor was my post intended to come off as inflammatory; I was asking more out of sheer curiosity. Make sense? That's what I was asking.

@lowerumble, yep.

@wmwhitey, none of the above. Seriously dude, wtf?!?

@RevCo666, have you ever been to DFW? More importantly, the malls and popular shopping stores? People here who park in the front ARE "in a rush", sometimes too lazy to park, entitled, inconsiderate and/or snobbish individuals. Of course there are exceptions but the next time you're here, take a look. Usually it's these people who are in such a hurry, they don't have time to park correctly, open their doors with care and usually don't care about the vehicles next to them.

Don't get me started on handicap spaces. What's worse is when perfectly fine individuals park in handicap areas either illegally or with a temporary tag when NOTHING is wrong with them. And people will park in the loading zone, block vehicles from passing through while they either do redbox or go shopping.

There's nothing wrong with handicap spaces as long as those who use it use it correctly.

But I digress. Back on topic eh?

You guys should try parking in Belgium. The spots are much smaller because everyone drives the little Euro type cars. The young ones love my Jeep. The older ones glare at me as I go by.
