I'm looking to upgrade my tires to the Maxxis Bighorn MT 275/70R18 on my 07 Sahara Unlimited (thanks for the tip hilldweller). I'm considering trying to extend the life of the tires by doing a 5-tire rotation. Is this a good idea? You'll always have one tire out of four on the road that's a little newer, and I don't know how this will affect the wear of all the tires.

Also, if you've used these tires, i'd be interested in your opinion/experience.

Thanks

I do the 5 tire rotation.
Spare to RR.
RR to RF.
RF to LR.
LR to LF.
LF to spare.

I rotate between 3000 and 5000 miles. Shorter duration if the tires have more offroad miles; the gravel wears them almost twice as fast.

Let me know how you like them, especially in rain; I'll need new tires soon too.

hmmmm; no edit button?

Anyhoo, remember that your speedo and odo will be wonky after installing the taller tires. Use a gps to see how far off it is; you don't want a ticket for going 70 in a 65 when your speedo says you're doing 64....

If you have 4.10 gears and a manual it might feel just a tad slower. Any other gears and it's going to feel logarithmically sluggish. Welcome to the world of Jeep mods; 4.56 gearing will fix you up...
