My stock tires are 225x75x16, I think the wheels are 16x7. Can I put the existing tires on new wheels that are 16x8.5. ?

Are you looking at 265 or 285 tires? Either will be fine.

Neither right now

I am just getting the wheels for now. Planning to get 285x75x16 tires after I get some mileage on my stock 225x75x16 tires. The wheels I am getting are
16x8.5 with 4.5 back spacing. Wanting to know if my stock tire will work with the 16x8.5. New wheels?

They will look goofy. They will probably fit but babies will cry and old ladies will point and laugh.

Crying

I wouldn't want to make babies cry, having old women laughing isn't' bad as long as they aren't laughing at me.
So I'll put a magnetic sing on my doors that reads " I'm from Missoula"

Careful in many parts of the US and Canada that can get you beat up or at least get your vehicle set on fire. when ever we travel we remove all possible indicators we are from Missoula as a safety precaution.
