I have been back and forth and just cant decide to pull the trigger. I was nearly set to do 315/75r16 goodyear duratracs. My concern now is my gears. 3.76 auto 2009 JKU. is the 1" added clearance worth it or should I do a 33/12.5x15? I do not want to be stuck with a crappy performing vehicle after I spend $2300 on tires. I am thinking with a 33" i wont have near as much problems with gears (i will not be able to afford new gears after the tire upgrade for a few years) and it would save me about $300 on tires alone. Input please! This is my DD and I want to hit trails on weekends.

You'll want to go big the first time.

with that being said, since you can't afford the gears and you hit up the trails quite frequently, i would suggest sticking to the 33's.

I have a 2012 w/3.21 and 285/70/17 and while fine on road, i sometimes have a hard time pushing the jeep during offroad duties which leads to burning up my clutch. I would have a harder time if i went bigger.
