For stock axles...Front is a dana 30 rear is either a dana 35 if it has a round plastic fill hole on the diff cover OR a dana 44 if it has a square metal fill plug on the cover...

and if you are unsure of it being what the tag says you can do the following.

1. Jack the rear of the Jeep up.
2. Mark a spot on the driveshaft so that you can count the turns.
3. Spin the tire that is in the air two (2) full turns while counting the turns of the drive shaft.

about three turns (a little more) will indicate 3.07 gears
three and a quarter turns will indicate 3.73 gears
a little more than four turn will indicate 4.10 gears

I think you get the idea now!

Tj's will accept 31 inch tires with only a speedo gear change... I run 31 inch on my LJ with no rubbing or bumping, 1 inch makes a big difference in snow and or chirping in 2nd gear!!
