OK, on my 92 YJ I just got my 2" shackle lift installed, and my 31x10.50s on. It looks like a Jeep now, LOL. Anyway. I get a rub at full lock (of course) with the stock 15x7 wheels. Anyone have thoughts on wheel spacers versus new wheels with correct offset? (key word being "budget")

Also, with the shackle lift - I effectively rotated both differentials to a lesser angle to the driveshaft. Now I get a pretty strong vibration at larger throttle openings, more so in lower gears (of course, with torque multiplication and all). I looked under, and it looks like the rear driveshaft is nearly straight in to the pinion. Too much slush falling for me to bother looking at the front, but I can assume the same condition. Should I buy a couple pairs of 2.5 degree leaf spring shims at my local speed/truck shop, and shim the diff noses back down so they're at the correct angle? I don't mind the vibration - when I'm not driving this rolling tent I'm on my Harley so I'm used to "feeling the road" - but I don't want to be replacing u-joints right and left....er, front and back, as it were.

Oh, and here she is, fresh from snow duty!

From the picture it looks like your front springs are bending downward as a result of the shackle being too long. I would try lowering your t-case to see if the vibs go away, if not then maybe the shims..usually in the back is where I have used them. You may also want to invest in some heavy duty shackle hangers.

There is a bolt on the inside of your steering knuckles that you can adjust to keep your tires out of the springs. This will slightly reduce your turning radius, but you won't even notice it. I hope you have a a garage you can use. Ity is no fun rolling around in the slush.

Suggestion for your springs. Loosen the shackle bolts on both sides, jack it up by the frame til you have a decent arc back in the spring. Tighten the shackle bolts to 95 ft/lbs. and lower. That should help keep a bit of positive arc, but it will stiffen your ride some.

I also need to put extended shocks in, at least in the back. I go over a pothole or a dip and I can hear the rears hitting full extension. Feels like the back of the Jeep is coming off!!

I'll have to try those adjuster stops for the steering. I'm limiting myself anyway, so if I can have the truck do it for me so much the better :) And yah, I have a garage. I drive Harleys and old Mopars - I *have* to have someplace to work on them, LOL!

Thanks, daddy (that just sounds wrong for some reason, LOL) - the tip on the stopper bolts worked great! Well, once I figured out I had to take them all the way out, clamp them in the vise, and grind the spot weld off the jam-nut so I could move them to where I needed them! For the clunking in the rear, I haven't tried disconnecting the rear sway bar. Maybe I should try, but it sure sounds like a shock getting pulled to full extension and the weight of the axle pulling through it directly into the frame...
