Hey just wondering if oyu guys could give me some numbers. What will my top speed be w/ 05 TJ auto (3.73 gears), Dana 35 rear? I have been hearing ull be lucky to reach 55 and others saying 80-90 no problem. Which one is it? Thanks!!

i have 2005 jeep unlimited and have a dana 44 rear. i dont really think that yours is a 35 rear but i could be wrong, when i am on the freeway i can reach speeds 80 to 90 with no problem but then again i dont think you should drive your jeep that fast.

top speed is around 90..."lucky to reach 55"...thats a bunch of bull...at least in a tj...maybe if your in an old cj or willys...but i easily run my tj over 70 and it will go faster...i doubt jeep would even sell a vehicle that slow...prolly wouldn't even be allowed today lol with speed limits of 75...oh and u should have the 35 in the rear unless u have a rubicon or payed extra for it

most guys that have trouble reaching/keeping highway speeds, myself included, have the 4cyl and bigger than stock tires. as long as the wind isn't blowing, i can drive 70, but i have had problems keeping 55 without being in 4th and hammered down.

Which engine is in your Jeep? I can see that you might have problems with the 4 bangor, but you should have no problems with the I-6. If you istall the 33" tires, you would be happier with the 4.56 gears. We have the 4.10's that come with the Rubi, and have 33" tires on it. It does just fine. It will cruise at 75-80 mph all day long. I have also know others in our club to put the Air-raid system on their I-6, and claimed they had much better acceleration. But they are also still running 3.07's with 33" tires. I must also note here that they are not able to wheel with us, because they can't climb any hills with such high gears. My brother in law, has a unlimited with an auto tranny, I-6, 33" tires, and the 3:73 gears, 2" BL, and does just fine cruising down the highway.

yeah...but u have the unlimited...the unlimited comes standard with a dana 44 without paying extra...BUT the regular tj does not have a dana 44 unless its the rubicon or u pay extra...and i dont think this guy has the unlimited...i think he as the regular...u have a dana 44 cuz yours is the unlimited and it comes standard on there but i dont think this guys is the unlimited

and to answer your questions...your 4.0 will be fine with the new wheels and tires...youll be able to keep ur speed...at least 75...and yes the air intake would help but it would definitely be better to go with new gears as it will restore a lot more power than just the air intake...so your best bet is new gears if u want some more power back...but even without new gears u should be fine

Thanks for the help guys. You guys really save me a lot of worrying! Looks like Ill get an intake at the end of the summer and get the new gears probably next summer.

sounds good...going with the intake first is fine...you should be fine without any power mods at all but if your gonna go with some then goin with the intake first is a good idea...gears are really good but if your on a budget and ya wanna do power mods then go with the intake first cuz gears are a lot more expensive

On another note, I have a question regarding the sway bar. My lift kit comes with Front Sway Bar Links and Rear Sway Bar Links. If I am not doing major offroading, should I still disconnect the sway bars or should I play safe and keep them connected?

if your not doing major offroading then you don't need to disconnect your sway bars...you only need to disconnect them if you need a lot of flex like for rock crawling...but if your not major offroading then you should have enough flex with them connected...u just need to disconnect them if u need more flex...but u should be fine without disconnecting them

Are the links that come with my kit just longer to compensate for the lift or are they for disconnecting the sway bars. Basically, when its installed, do I tell them to install the links or to not. I want the sway bar to be connected. Thanks!

The stock sway bar links on your jeep can't handle much lift. They will fail and pop out of their joints. That is why your lift has longer links. Whether you disconnect the front or not you will still want to install the extended links.
