My luck with TPS systems is not good. I'd prefer we didn't have them and were forced to check the pressure with a real gauge.

You can turn the system off if you wish, although I believe in the US it is classified a "safety device" and is mandatory.

So, a TPS is a Throttle Position Sensor in my book.
The tire pressure sensors are part of the TPMS.
I think there may be some confusion here. I suspect the OP has an issue with his throttle position sensor. But maybe they are talking about something else. We may have a failure of communication.
