Hey all, I'm new here, but I've been reading posts since I got my first YJ long ago.

I recently picked up a '00 TJ. I got it for a steal, it has 80000 miles on it and is in great condition. The only issue is that, the PO took it from a manual transmission to an automatic. I can't stand automatics, it's just a personal preference. My mechanic and I are going to swap in an AX-15. Since the computer was never changed when they original conversion was preformed, we shouldn't have too much work too do.

My question for you all is. Where should I look for an AX-15. I prefer to get a prefabbed kit that has the clutch already assembled, so to reduce the amount of work we have to put into it. Also any advice from anyone who has preformed this type of project would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your help in advance. I will post pictures as the project progresses.

Okay guys, wanted to update.

Contacted a great website called LKQ.com. They have rebuilt and used transmissions, engines, etc... Basically they're an online U-pick-n-pull. Very great customer service too. I got a rebuilt nv3550 for $1500.00. Gonna order all the other parts from O'reilly. The whole thing, plus install of some parts I can't do myself is gonna run close to $3500. Which isn't bad considering the 2000 TJ all this is going in, only ran me $7600, with only 80,000 original miles on it. It's completely rust free and has never been in an accident. IMO I came out on top. Thanks for the comments guys. I'll post pics once I start getting parts in.
