Some may recall my saga, I have a 1991 YJ. I have a bolt that holds the trans mounting bracket sheared off flush. I broke a screw extractor in that so i can't drill it out. The other bolt hole is damaged but holding.
Today I pt it back together, planning on getting some help. It should hold together so I can take it somewhere. I have a Jeep Specialist in the Sacramento. They have been working on Jeeps for 25 years. I am hoping they have a fix. They also run a Jeep wrecking yard. Worst case I am thinking they could remove this section and replace with a used on.
Assuming that doesn't work, would it be possible for me to attach a new mounting bracket by installing one good bolt and having someone weld the bracket in place OR weld a stud on the sheared off bolt. I am trying to avoid tearing the whole tail end of the trans out. That's a bit above my skill level.
I knew this Jeep had a questionable past and would need a lot of work but it seems every repair goes this way.
