I have been hearing a rotational metallic knocking when getting on and off gas pedal. Also when clutch is pressed. Fairly certain it is coming from transfer case area. I removed case housing today and chain has a good 1 1/2” to 2” of slack. I can almost push it and touch housing. I can push it and touch shift mode fork. I tried to post pics and video but apparently the files are too big. How much slack should I have?

Sounds like way to much slack and the chains are known for stretching. You can get a quality Borg Warner chain off ebay around $60 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Morse-Tec-...542028?hash=item2f06eb3a0c:g:DI4AAOSwEPtZX5KD

I dont know if this is a daily driver or a project vehicle but you can also do a wide chain swap that will resist stretching also but you need to find sprockets that will work. I did my wide chain swap for around $110 with used ebay sprockets a new borg warner wide chain.
