I have a 1989 Wrangler 4.2l Base/SE Manual 5 spd. The slave cylinder went out and I need to know which kind to get. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

The Aisin AX-5 has an ID code stamped next to the drain plug. The Peugeot BA 10/5 has a ID plate on the passenger side on the front of the case.

You can also check the Vehicle code plate. I think on the 87-89 it's on the driver's side radiator support. The transmission code should be on the bottom left of the plate.

Is one more dominate than the other or is it luck of the draw?

I have an 83 cj7 I recently bought its an automatic and the 4.2 just started to knock so I want to put a Chevy small block in it and I'm wondering what trans i might have and if there is an adapter to mate the transmission to the Chevy block or if one will even be needed I have never had a jeep so any help would be greatly appreciated
