Has anyone ever had to made the hole bigger? I tried to pull the plug through on the passenger side but pulled the plug off the wire and now need a new antenna. My thoughts are to take some iron rod and hammer it through to my the hole bigger. The hole itself is big enough but on the engine side their appears to be a metal lip that makes the opening smaller than the hole itself. I am attempting to run the satellite from the hood to enhance reception.

Are you talking about the antenna wire? I ran my XM antenna up the roll bar under the fabric and stuck it to the center of the bar right above my head, its all under the cover so its stealthy, the reception is great (the fabric of the cover, the top or even the fiberglass hard top all do not affect the signal). No drilling, no running wires all over the place, and a clean install.

Yes the Sirius antenna wire. I had the ante. A that came with the tuner installed where you describe but my reception is not great. I ordered a new antenna (slim dot antenna) that I want to mount to the hood. I worked today at enlarging the hole and think it might be big enough now to run the wire.

Which Sirius antenna do you have? Maybe my reception issues are with my antenna and not location. I really wish I could have used my factory antenna always had great reception with that one with the factory head unit.

I had XM which had better reception than the Sirius (at least the did 6 years ago) I was a sales/installer/manger for a 12v shop for the heyday of Sat Radio and we were always trained to get the antenna to the highest point on the drivers side or centered so it would be less impacted by vegetation hanging over the road. Also because the signal would come low on the horizon from the southwest, mounting the antenna too low would sometimes affect the signal because it would be blocked by metal above its location. The hood plan may work for you just fine its one of those you gotta try it an see things.
