yeahi would suggest at least a 3", as you said. I'm runnin a 3" i think... and I like it, looks good with 32" tires... I might put some new shackles on there one day and step up to 33s or something, but I do like the look I have now, especially since it is a dd, and didnt want to go too big

i just did a soa on a frinds. it took a few hours and didn't cost that much. i did all the welding and cutting. i would go that route if i had a good set of stock springs. if you springs are good i would buy the spring perches and weld them in and get ride of all the unnecessary crape. it is not as hard as most people think..

x2

You'll need a SYE and a CV driveline, a drop pitman arm, and spring perches. At least thats what I needed. I also just relocated the brake lines under the frame instead of getting extensions. You might be able to get away with a t-case lowering kit instead of the SYE and CV but I don't know. I've never ran a t-case lowering kit on an SOA.

About that, ya. Now I don't know, and maybe someone else will chime in, but you might be able to run just a t-case drop instead of the SYE and CV saving about 500. Shocks I forgot about shocks. You'll need new lift shocks or do what I did and relocate your shock mounts. I did it because I didn't want the shock mounts hanging below the axle tube.

i'd say not doing sye would be just temporary, you'll need it eventually if you wanna wheel. i run t case drop w/ soa to reduce the angle of the rear pinion, the more its changed, the less oil the pinion bearings get.

don't forget about setting rear pinion angle when you do sye.

you can make spring perches out of square tubing, drill the right size hole, and cut it in half, will need u bolts to most likely and sway bar disconnects if you aren't gonna ditch it all together.

I'm also thinking about doing a soa, I found a good shop to do the work for me, including the sye and cv......my only hesitation is Im not sure i should do this to a 4 banger.

I love my jeep, got it for cheap, it looks nice and runs great......what I need is someone to tell me, "sure go for it, or "dude get a 6 cyl first"

Help me out

This Jeep was my motivation. I did upgrade my rear axle to a Ford 8.8 at the same time. You can start a pile of parts like I did to help spread the cost out.
BTW this Jeep is a 4 cyl.

That's it! I'm doing it. Been thinking about it for over a year and I've made up my mind.

I will drop my jeep off this coming Saturday...look em in the eye and say, "Give me the SOA"!

I'll worry about gears and axles and all the other stuff later....because if I dont get the lift done, I can't move on to the next mod.

I wanna ride high (can already here the jokes) and proud, and damnit I'm doing it!!! :punk:
