Hey ya’ll,
Drove my jku and seemed to rain a few months back. My leather steering wheel seems to have shrunk and wrinkled in some areas. Is there a way to rejuvenate it and unshrink it? Been conditioning it every three months and dont really want it to rip lol.

Can you post a pic. Mine has wrinkles, so I figure it’s normal.

I've been looking for a template so I can make my own steering wheel cover with an alligator skin.

I have yet to find one.

Wrinkling like that wouldn't be caused by shrinking but just the opposite. When it got wet, it probably swelled some and increased temps outside didn't help either. See what happens when it dries off and cools down. Maybe hit it with some leather conditioner, too. Doesn't look too serious to me.

That looks like mine, which is exactly how it looked 3 years ago when I got it new off the truck. Real leather is imperfect.

That's what I was thinking.. Did you thoroughly examine the steering wheel before it got rain on it? Or after the rain, did you look at it and say,"hey the leather shrunk."

Kinda like going to the car wash and looking at your car afterwords blaming them for the scratch.. If you didn't thoroughly examine the car before how do you know it came from the car wash?

Well prior to the rain it wasnt wrinkled. So thats where my conclusion kinda came in lol
If that's what really happened.. I would get some high quality mink oil and recondition the leather.. that would also increase the level of water proofing going forward.

Something tells me you would also want to get a protector (not one that slips) so you don't scratch the leather in the future.
