I drive a 94 yj 2.5. The valve cover was all gunked up and it looked like it was seeping (hard to tell with all the grie). Previous owner said it was due so I figured why not. Came off easy enough. Noticed one of the bolts on the front right was broke and just smootzed up with black RTV. Whatever though. I'm planning on a rebuild or an engine replacement soon due to a light knock (wheeee!).

I put the valve cover back on and the front left snapped also. I barely even tightened it to spec and SNAP. What size bolts are used here and what's the easiest way to remove? Bolt removal tool? Anything wrong with just putting some rtv down until I'm able to pull it? I have one that just spins on the oil pan too when I was troubleshooting a small leak.

I'll fire it up tomorrow morning and look for leaks. Hopefully it doesn't blow up. I replace a valve cover and water pump on a mini coop and ran into no issues. Figures this one gives me more trouble!

thats what i used. All the other ones tightened up nice. I wonder if it was already weak from previous changes and it just didn't take much to snap the damn thing off.

Yeah I probably shouldn't have. I didn't on the mini. It's not a big.job on the Jeep so if I have to redo it, so be it.

I let it get up to temp and took it around the block. I didn't see any leaks but it was a fairly shirt trip.
