So I got my Jeep about 2 years ago, right after I enlisted in the National Guard. We've done a couple of things here and there on it, and I figured I'd chronicle those things, and ask for some advice next time I get in a jam.

So this is Patton.







You can see that my county EMS tag is kinda beat to hell.

So the first thing we did was replace the Weber carb that the PO had installed with an MC 2150.


After that we didn't do much until the pos 10/5 went out, and I decided to replace it with an AX15. Massive pain. Anyone who reads a thread where they say that everything will bolt right over... don't listen to them. Practically nothing bolted straight up. We had to replace practically everything. And I broke my 3/4 wrench...

So we got it pulled...


And put it on the porch, cause where else do you put these things?


Broke down the t-case to replace the input gear with one that is 23 spline.


We got it all ready to slide back in then found out that the AX15 I got had a different size input shaft than the AX15 for the earlier model YJs, so we had to order a special pilot bushing from Novak conversions (https://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/pilot-bushings/amc-ax15/). After ordering that we still couldn't get the tranny in. Come to find out, SOMEONE (not mentioning names, but it was me) didn't align the clutch and totally busted that up, so a short trip to a mechanic to have them try to finish it was in order. They got it all in, but the transmission mount didn't switch over, so we took it home, ordered a new mount, made it fit the skid plate and forced it all in.







I put the lever in backwards...



This is Max. He's always angry, and it's physically impossible for Patton to move anywhere without him.

Forgot to mention, if you decide to switch from an internal slave cylinder to an external slave, you need to make sure you have a proper front bearing retainer. Looks like this.

I'll be switching over to an external slave whenever I have to rebuild this AX15, I just decided it isn't worth the hassle anymore, I'd rather have my jeep on the road.

Looks good. I have the twin. It doesn't look like this now but when I got it....

I think the tranny was a great conversation piece for the front porch!! Hahaha When I was stationed in Okinawa, Japan I had a 1985 Harley Davidson Sportster that leaked everywhere. My wife and two boys were there with me and the wife had to go back stateside for family issues. I moved my oldest son into his brothers room and flipped the bed against the wall. Two days later the Sprotster was torn apart, new oil and fuel lines along with a complete gasket set was ordered. Put her back together, cleaned the room, put the boy back in it and thought I'd gotten away with it. Wife still found out. It was worth the butt chewing though. Bike ran like a champ.

It's been a while since I posted on here, so I figured I'd drop an update.

I got accepted into Paramedic school, and we started classes in January. So, that's been taking up all of my time and money.
Had the fuel pump go out. So I went ahead and replaced that, the spark plugs and wires, my distributor cap and rotor, and the carb venturis.

That's a pretty short reason for not posting, but that's whats been up. I'm hoping to be able to start doing some real work on it after I finish school.
