Viking Funeral Prayer

Lo, there do I see my father.
Lo, there do I see my mother.
Lo, there do I see my sisters
and my brothers.
I see the line of my people
back to the beginning.
They do call to me to take my place
in the halls of Valhalla
where the brave may live forever.

Did someone die or did you just watch "The 13th Warrior?"

Blu, it's a beautiful sentiment. And, actually a real prayer said long before Micheal Crichton wrote Eaters of the Dead.

Yes, someone did just die.........my Dad........and my son found this Viking tribute, and showed it to me tonight, after I attended my fathers funeral last week. It absolutely moved me, and I just wanted to share it with you all. My son, shared with me, the pride that he felt, in knowing that he was from the line of the Vikings. He gathered the strength that my Dad had, as he was dyeing, and even asked him why he was still hanging on, and was told, that a Viking hangs on, until he knows everyone else, is ok.

Just my tribute, to an ancient custom. This prayer is over 1500 yrs. old.

I am very sorry for your loss.
I agree, it is a moving prayer and a fitting tribute to a proud heritage.
