I just transferred to Virginia (Hampton Roads area), and I have no idea where to do some wheeling. Just wondering if anyone out here has a spot or two that they go to, and wouldn't mind sharing.

Also, I just started up an off-road club here if your looking. Original club is in Northern Florida. So this will be the VA chapter. Family friendly and relaxed.

Google GW/Jefferson National Forest. Nothing crazy but it is free wheeling and free camping. Im in Northern Virginia and thats probably the closest legal place to here open year round. You find you tube videos search knob creek and flagpole. Those are some of the more popular runs.

Make sure you check with the Forest service before you go. Some trails DO shut down in the winter time. Not to be a chatty Kathy, or no it all..

Some info for ya.

Not sure it the Guy is still active and running trails, but this is some of what he has done.

Come join us in one of the monthly HRJC meetups @ UNO Grille in Virginia beach Blvd. Usually the closest off road park for us is approx ~3 hrs of drive towards NC.. but we do usually meet up at Starr motors-Suffolk, they have a park behind their dealership which they allow us to use during our events.. Let me know if your interested I shall share the next meetup date as it gets announced. :drinks:

6:30 PM

Uno's Chicago Grill
5700 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA

Come join us for our monthly “Meet n’ Greet”, happening at the Military Circle Uno’s!
Meet ‘n Greets are HJRC social* events where we grab a bite to eat/drink with friends, check out what's new with everyone's Jeeps, go over new club information, and hold our 50/50 raffle**. These events are family-friendly, so Mom and Pop Jeepers, feel free to bring the mini-Jeepers with you.

If you're newer to HRJC, don't be shy!! This is a great chance to meet some friendly folks, learn more about upcoming trail rides, and to ask any Jeep questions that you may have. Be sure to let folks know that you're new to the club!!!

Uno's Chicago Grill is located at:
5700 E Virginia Beach Blvd
Norfolk VA 23502
(757) 466-0923

We will be meeting on Uno’s covered deck, which has seating (bar/tables) for about 50. Tables tend to fill fast, so if you're bringing others, consider arriving earlier. If the weather allows, we can also use the uncovered patio area, which adds additional table seating.

Uno's lets us park on their grass (along Military Highway), which looks pretty awesome with a bunch of Jeeps on it. Please remember to enter/exit the grass from their parking lot, not Military Highway. Also, please don't damage their grass, which means go slow if it's rained recently.

Uno's also will donate a portion of our checks to HRJC's charity, Samaritan House.

that looks awesome
It actually is. There's some dunes and a big neighborhood up towards the Va state line in an area called Carova. Ya gotta have a 4x4 to get there. The wife and I love it there, and take our HR on the beach when we can.
