Hello All,

I took my new 16 JKU Sahara off road for the first time, and went through several deep water/mud pits ( that went above the bottom of the doors ) and a few hours later after stopping for lunch I noticed that 3/4 doors let in some water.

Is this normal?

I always assumed that since the Wranglers have that beefy rubber molding that it would be pretty much water tight.

I don't expect to be able to park in deep water and not have it cone in, but I was just driving through it and it came in...

Thanks in advance.

Do you have aftermarket entry guards installed on your door sills? I've noticed mine prevent the doors from sealing completely. I haven't gone through any deep water yet since I have installed them, but I am certain they would allow water in if I did.

I agree to check the plugs just in case, but it doesn't surprise me that water came in. Just another in a long list of reasons why I don't have carpet.

More important question is, why were your doors on??? :D

Good luck :thumb:

Yep, and quit yore whining. Water always comes in a Jeep off road or not, which means it also runs right back out. Take all drain plugs out and toss them.

Madadd - No I don't have any entry guards - since it's black and prob doesn't show scuffs like other colors I prob won't get them. Thx

Hurricane - Checked, and they are in, thx n- The muddy water can bee seen dripping down from the door sills to the floor mats, etc. Thx

BBS - Lol. They are on because the last time I was a passenger in my son's Jeep we went through even deeper water and if he had his doors off we def would have had to pull the carper out and clean it...Thx

Thank you again for the legitimate responses.

zenman - Not quite sure how " asking a question " constitutes whining, but whatever - I guess for guys like you I should have said that I don't care, I am just curious if it is NORMAL...

My first trip on a dusty trail showed me that every door seal let the dust in. If dust gets past the seals, water certainly will. Poor build quality indeed.

Lol it's a jeep not a submarine. Nothing's water tight. I think that's a factory flaw to make people use some common sense before they hit the "dive" button.
Does that mean I should remove the electric motor from my spare tire mount and put the spare back on????:censored:

Door seals are designed to keep out rain and splash water not standing water. If they sealed that tight it would be very hard to shut them. It is like watches that are water resistant and waterproof, and even the latter as a depth rating

Ask anyone who owns a boat, taking on a little water is common.
So if you use your jk like a boat..........
