swap a diesel in it :)

I'm just wondering why would it stall though.. water in the intake is only thing that should stall it, Or maybe stand alone ignition system.. since if you dont have spark you are screwed...

sorry, may have to pass on the diesel, but great idea though. lol. i use a k&n filter without the heat shield, and it does have a speck or two of mud on it, but i wouldn't think water would be entering through the filter. what do you mean by stand alone ignition system?

well the most common problems i've seen around are with the firing system... since its amplified to 20-40k volt signal even the littlest voltage change does the job.. Thats why i said diesel.. the most hard thing to do is water proof the wires.. I would say if you can waterproof the wires that touch the water you should be good.. The water causes unwanted grounding in wires which causes it to stall.

i come from a racing world so stand alone ignitions (and fuel systems) are preatty comon for a boosted engine (no mud but turbos and all those extras need new ecu commands) Stand alone ignition is to set the spark at specific point and has less chance of getting grounded and not working. Stand alones get quite expensive though so keep that in mind. I dont go through mud or swamps so i never really did a big search on it but i'm telling you everything i know...

that web site post helps out a lot thanks. it looks to be a little cheaper then put in a diesel engine.

You must go through some huge puddles...a massive puddle snuck up on me the other day...heard water hitting the top of the soft top...no problems except for nonexistent visibility.

One thing to do is extend your breather lines on yout tranmission(not sure if the transfer case has one), front diff, and your rear differential. I can't find the post I used to do mine. It doesn't make your jeep stall but can prevent serious damage in the long run unless you like changing fluid after each trip.
