I just put on the weber 34 dgec last night hoping to solve some problems on my friends jeep.
Before, it had a remanufactured carter carb and it had got to where it was running really rich and was very weak.
After putting the weber on, the engine is running much stronger but we are having trouble with the idle speed. Sometimes it wants to idle high but most of the time it idles so low that it wants to die.
Also it's still puffing black smoke at low rpm. I haven't made any adjustments to the carb because the idle speed is not consistent. I'm going to check for vacuum leaks today but do you guys have any ideas?
The only things we have attatched to the new carb is fuel, vacuum advance, throttle cable, pcv valve, and valve cover vent to the breather. I didn't see anywhere to attatch the other vacuum lines so we capped them off according to the instructions.
Also, my friend said that the battery gauge is reading much lower now. I have no idea how changing the carb could effect that but i thought i'd toss it in there anyway...
