So after a mudding trip several months long ago a dull screeching sound has started. It is not real loud but I can hear it. I have a 2001, 5 speed stick, the engine was rebuilt about two or three years ago and also had a new clutch put in. Right before I shift, normally around 2000 RPMs, I can hear the sound, in every gear. I have not noticed anything else wrong or handling wise, just the noise. If I stay at the current RPM it continues until the RPMs go back down. Any ideas? I don't think it is a huge deal but would like to figure out what is.
Thanks!!!

Dried mud inside the clutch mechanism? I'd probably squirt water up inside there for an extended period of time (because the mud is dried) while a helper works the clutch with the engine running to see if you can flush it out.

I am SO glad I don't wheel where there is mud.
